Problems saving allowed items.

Defender keeps asking about the same two items every few hours. Both are
part of a driver for HP software. I choose allow and Defender reports
everything is successful but a few hours later it asks me the same question
again. Has anyone else encountered this and have a fix?

If you are not given a choice to "always allow" (and I don't believe you
are, in real-time protection, the workaround available is either:

1) check Tools, General settings, and see whether you have checked either of
the two boxes at the very end of the Real-time protection section--which
result in additional alerts, along with being set up as an advanced, rather
than basic spynet member.

2) If the alerts either aren't coming because of these settings, or you
would prefer to leave those settings as they are, consider using the tools,
general settings, advanced options dialog box to Add, then browse to the
specific files, and exclude them from scanning.

There's some risk here--what you put in there won't be scanned, and could
provide a hiding place for malware--so use it carefully.

Some have reported that this doesn't seem to work in excluding paths--but
that does seem to be working on my machine (as a test, I've added the root
of all three partitions to that list, and I find that a full scan of my
rather slow machine now takes less than 4 minutes--so I suspect that the
path exclusion is working!)
