I have a program that stopped working without any known reason.
The program is UFile Pro 2006 from Dr Tax Software Inc. [http://www.drtax.ca].
The program suddenly would not allow me to access it. The message that I
keep getting is “This application has failed to start because the application
configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix the
problem.â€
Unfortunately, it doesn’t.
I tried several different methods to repair it, including running the
application’s repair function, as well as by uninstalling and reinstalling it
and the program updater – all to no avail.
I downloaded the program again from the site. Another attempt, I obtained
and used the CD for install. I even took the precaution of disconnecting
from the internet, to shut off my firewall and antivirus before installing –
to avoid any conflict.
I tried several different ways of uninstalling: (1) I ran uninstall from
the application. (2) Another time, I used the Windows Program Uninstaller.
Nope.
In all cases—no matter which method of uninstalling—it seems the directory
remained behind, and it did not remove registry values.
I eventually used Registry Editor to remove it.
I finally had to give up. HELP!!
