Problems Opening Zip Files

a I have been having the same problem for several weeks now. When i try to
open a Zip picture file, the screen keeps flashing and flashing and the only
way I can stop it, is to shut down manually. My computer seems to be clean
-- I use Norton Anti-Virus and Firewall and the scans say computer is clean.
I don't get any error message -- just the screen flashing. I installed a HP
all-in-one on Oct. 8 but I think this happened before that. I am not sure,
though. There is one time that this happened and I can't remember what I was
doing. The other times have been when I am opening zip files. I installed
IE 7 in September. Could this be an IE problem?

Log off the internet , disable Norton , then try and open the zip file
..
Norton is a resource hog and it will also take over the system .
