Problems installing SP3

When I try to install SP3 I get two
simultaneous error messages:
1. The SP3EXPRESS.EXE file is linked to missing export NTDLL.DLL:_allmul.
and
2. a device attached to the system is not functioning.

I have tried registry problem-fixing software, and the SFC solution ('SFC /
SCANNNOW' in 'Run' - I get a message sayng windows cannot find 'SFC'.

I am really stuck with this. Does anyone have a suggestion?

Thanks in advance.

Does the .exe file run on another system? Try to rule it out as part of
the problem. If it does, then your system is at fault, if it doesn't
I'd suspect a corrupt .exe file.

Can you find the sfc.exe file in %systemroot%\system32\sfc.exe ? Can
you run this manually? Have your links to %systemroot% become corrupted?

I have the same exact problem. Microsoft has nothing in their support
section for this. I cannot find this "SFC.exe" file either. This is driving
me nuts. PLEASE! anything will help. I have no idea what system this is
operating on . All I know is I got one system. Thats it. It is not networked.
There has to be something we can do.

Hey Steve, Did you ever find a solution to this problem? Your first error mentioned above is exactly what I am experiencing?
