I downloaded the ISO for openSuse 11.4 64 bit DVD, checked MD5 sum and burnt DVD.

Computer has two hard disks, 'F' a 2Tb storage and 'C' primary 160Gb disk formatted to FAT 32, no data on it.

I boot from the DVD and get:

GRUB loading.
error: unknown filesystem
grub rescue> grub

I've tried a variety of responses (guesswork) with no success.

System, briefly, is:

Asus M2N Sli Deluxe motherboard
AMD 6400 CPU 2 x 3.2Ghz stock speed
2 x 1Gb (2Gb) DDR2 memory

I haven't been able to find anything relevant by searching or looking on Suse's site.

I have a hunch this may be because I have the 64 Bit version but I understand my hardware is 64 Bit.

Any suggestions to help most welcome.

I decided to try Suse, btw, as I finally formatted the disk with Mint V8 on it and am now sticking for the time being with Mint 11.

Try reformatting the disk you will use to ext2/ext3/ext4 or whatever you will use make sure it is flagged as "bootable". Parted Magic should have all the tools you need.:D

Did I mention about Arch :fool:
