Problems in Word & Excel - HELP!

I'm running on XP and am having problems with both Word
2003 and Excel 2003. When I open either program, I am
unable to type any text. I have a blinking cursor in
Word and am able to perform all funtions with the toolbar
(bold existing text, indent, delete, etc.). I am having
this problem in both existing and new documents. Any
suggestions would be appreciated. A command that might
be turned off, viruses, etc.

1]Open WORD/EXCEL> Click to Help > Select DETECT AND REPAIR
2]Reinstall Office
