Problems Editing Distribution Lists

B

Bill Smith

I receive an error when attempting to change users in a
Universal Distribution List that states "The specified
user cannot be found. If the user exists on another
domain in the enterprise, it may take up to 15 minutes or
more for the user to be replicated to the global catalog".

The users are from 2 other domains then the one I am
administering. I get this error even when using the MMC
on one of the actual GC servers. These are not new users
and no amount of time allows me to add these users. Users
from within the actual domain are added with no problem.

If you have any suggestions, please post here and/or e-
mail me directly. Thanks in advance.

Bill,

Could it possibly be that your Infrastructure Master role holder for your
domain is also a Global Catalog server?

I ask this because you say that you have a multi-domain environment (and
imply that you don't have control over the other domains). Just a thought.

If you haven't already, here are a few KB articles that you might want to
review,

Is it possible that your local DC is both the Infrastructure Master and a
Global Catalog server?

Thank you for your reply. I do have control over all 3 of
the domains, I just can't users from one domain to a
Universal Distribution List on another domain.

The Infrastructure Master and GC are different servers.
Could there be a problem if a GC in one of the domains is
not up and running?

Thanks for the links.
