Adding users from different trees

N

network

Hi All,

Quick question; I have 2 separate domain trees, one
forest. Servers from both domains are global catalog
servers. Both servers can see eachother, and exist in the
same site. When I try to add a user/group from one domain
to the forest root domain, I get the following error;

"The specified user was not found. If the user exists on
another domain controller in the enterprise, it may take
15 minutes or more for the user to be replicated to the
global catalog."

Is this working as intended?

Thanks.

This is possible, since you have more than one global catalog server in a
site, and therefore if you create, for example, a user in domain A (it will
be created on a DC for domain A, which is a GC server also), and then
immediately try to add that user to a domain local group in a domain B, you
may receive such error message. This is because operation is performed on a
DC for domain B, which is also a GC, so it will use itself for user lookup,
and if GC isn't replicated yet from DC for domain A, you will get this error
message.
