Problems downloading files from email message?

Greetings,

I have the following issue. On my client´s PC using my paid Yahoo account, I
can´t download MS Word files. I can sometimes download .JPG, .pdf, files but
even that is not consistent.

The machine has a hardware firewall from 2Wire (a moden, gateway, router
device) as well as a software firewall, from McAfee. I have resorted to
restoring the 2Wire firewall and security policy to defaults... And yet, no
downloads...

The McAfee security policy is enforced as per at least ten other machines I
have configured.... and yet, I cannot download files consistently on this
one... What gives. Can anyone help? I know this is a loaded question but I am
at a loss...

Is this when using web mail or a mail app? When you can't download
them give details. You can see them but they can't be opened? Is there
an error msg?

Are you referring to Yahoo's Web-based e-mail and specifically, e-mail
attachments?

If so, are you trying to open these attachments or save them?

Have you tried setting up a Gmail account to see if this behavior
persists? If it doesn't, maybe this is a Yahoo setting.

Your "client" is retrieving e-mails from YOUR e-mail account? What
happens when the client uses their own e-mail service?

And "can't download" means what? What did you expect to happen? What
DOES happen?

When you retrieve e-mails using a local e-mail client (which you never
identified), the attachments are not somewhere else floating in the
ether that you grab later. The attachments are *in* the e-mail as MIME
parts in the body of the message.

Are you clicking on a link in the e-mail retrieved into a local e-mail
client that points at a file on a server to retrieve it from there? If
so, just what does happen when you click on that link in the retrieved
copy of the e-mail?

Are you trying to use some webmail client to extract the attachment and
then download it from that site? If so, might that webmail client use
popups and you have them blocked?
