Problems copying slides or text from other presentations

Hi there ... re PPT2003

When I copy content (or an entire slide) into an existing presentation, all
the formating goes to h... in a hand-basket.
Is there a way to "not" carry over the formatting from the previous slide
(like "paste special" no formatting in Word).

I'd appreciate your suggestions.

If you are using PPT 2003, there should be a little button called 'Paste
options' that appears whenever you copy and paste something it's quite small
so you can miss it . If you click on it you can choose to keep the
formatting of the original or follow the formatting of the current
presentation, or paste as unformatted text.
