problems burning data dvd with nero6

As the subject states...

I'm running windows xp home (sp2), and am using nero 6.6.4.
I'm using a SONY DVD RW DW-Q58A drive inside a usb2.0 enclosure.
I can burn cds just fine.
Here's a copy of the log from nero.
I'm using ritek dual layer dvd+r media, and am attempting to burn backupsof various files.
Hoping someone here can make sense of what's going wrong...

Are you using a FAT32 partition, if so then this may be a problem when
burning more than 4GB.

All my hard drives are ntfs-formatted.
As for the disc itself, how do I check that?

If you have a friend see if you can try another brand (major brand like
Verbatim, HP, Etc.) of media.

My guess, while mapping the DVD, got lost on the second layer.

OK, I got it to work by checking the following boxes in the options of the specified recorder:
Write extended lead-out on double-layer discs
DVD high compatibility mode (at least 1GB will be written)

As I currently don't have any cd-rws at hand, will I have to change either of those for cd writing?
