Not sure what you mean about going to setup. Does it go to XP setup or do you mean it passes the BIOS? If it starts loading XP and stops then I suggest you press F8 to go into XP in safe mode. If it doesn't even touch the disk then I think the problem lies there and not with XP. You can try to boot with the XP cd (may have to enter the BIOS to change the boot sequence to CD, HD Floppy for instance). When XP setup starts press R for recovery and try to let it fix it self.
