problems at WXP shutdown

We've just done a clean install of Wxp on a new 80Gb HD;
and limited software applications have been reinstalled.
At shutdown we receive the following message
about 'DEVLPR' running, and if cancelled all current data
will be lost.

If Wxp shutsdown on the first request, it take about 2-3
min! If it doesn't, a second request (or Cntrl-Alt-Delete)
takes another 2-3 min., which is not right. We're not
installing another program until this is resolved.

What's wrong?
 
Are you sure that isn't "DEVLDR running?" If that is the message, it would
appear you have a Sound Blaster Soundcard and need the updated driver for
XP. Visit the Creative website:
