problems accessing Windows Update

I am having a problem accessing windowsupdate.com - get the following msg

"Files required to use Microsoft Update are no longer registered or
installed on your computer. To continue:Register or reinstall the files for
me now (Recommended)Let me read about more steps that might be required to
solve the problem"

Unfortunately the "more steps" are unhelpful although i remember seeing
something like this in the past and the solution required registering a .dll
but I don't remember which one - anybody got any idea.

Thanks

As per some research on Google Groups I found the solution to be quite simple
in my case:

click on "Start" then on "Run" then type:

regsvr32 MSXML3.dll

into the dialog box and click "OK" - If you see a dialog box open that says
"DllRegisterServer in MSXML3.dll succeeded." then you did it right. Try
updates again.
