problems accessing web site with same name as domain

I have a W2K - SP4 - domain with the domain is the same as a our website
which is hosted by an outside entity.

When I go to IE and type in that name I get this page can not be found....,
If I enter the IP addr. of the web site I can display it.

This only happens when I try to access this web page from the computer
domain workstations where the domain is the same as the web site.

Any ideas? Do I have to make some entries into the DNS config in the domain
computer?

Create a DNS entry for your web server in DNS that associates its name to
the IP address.

however - why would you name your internal domain the same as the external?
