Problems accessing certain websites

For the past week, I've had trouble accessing certain
websites. At first, I thought it was a probelm with the
system, but it is only two or three certain websites that
I cannot access. They are not restricted websites, for
example, one is an .edu website, and another is a
government website, that I have always been able to
access. When I try to access these sites, I get a loud
buzzing noise. Someone suggested that I turn off any
popup killer s/w I have, but I have none installed. Any
suggestions?
