i dunno if this may be the problem i installed new ram into my pc 1GB of
ram,
took my old 256mb ram out and fit the new gigabyte in, now when am in the
middle of something i get a blue screen, saying ,(windows has been shutdown
to protect your computer bla bla bla etc,if this is the first time u have
seen this stop error, bla bla bla,)so i restart the pc and i see nothing but
a black screen and theres a beeping noise, so i restart it, and it does it
again, so i do it the third time and then its fine,

When you took the old RAM out and put the new one in, I trust you pulled
the electrical plug out of the computer before doing so? Was it one
stick of a gig or two of 512? If the latter, what does you computer say
the amount of RAM is? Perhaps the RAM isn't seated well. Check it.

Just had this EXACT problem with a customer.

We had a gigabyte motherboard, and corsair memory. Unfortunately, the
solution for us was that we had to replace the memory with a different brand
to get it to work properly. Hopefully this is not the case for you.

Sounds like cause and effect? Is the memory you bought recomemended by
the MB maker for use on their board? Another option is to test the ram
using several of these programs.
