Problem with WUAUCLT (Win XP SP2 home edition)

Hi!
My PC is very very slow since yesterday. I'm receiving a message about a
problem with WUAUCLT.exe. Found out on the web that this could be a trojan
horse?! I scanned my PC bu didn't found any virus... Ever heard of that?
Can you help me with that? Give me details, I'm a beginner...

The wuauclt.exe file is located in the folder C:\Windows\System32 (Windows Update
AutoUpdate Client).

In other cases, wuauclt.exe is a virus, spyware, trojan or worm!
