Problem with Word window position when Outlook running

If I have Outlook 2003 running and attempt to fire up Word 2003, the
maximized window doesn't start at the top of the screen. Instead, it starts
about the depth of a tool bar lower. Items at the bottom of the page can't be
accessed unless the window is resized. If I close Outlook, Word opens fine.
If I leave Outlook open and close and reopen Word, it will sometimes launch
progressively lower in the window.

What causes this and how can I fix it?

I've been having this problem as well and i know from friends i'm not
the only one...
only workaround seems to be closing/re-opening word/outlook...
