Problem Opening Word attachment in Outlook 2007

I am having problems when I open a word attachment from Outlook 2007. When I
open it word starts and then nothing is displayed, word options is accessible
but I can't navigate through the options and then word crashes when I try to
close it. If I run winword.exe /a from a run command it opens word and then
if I try to open the attachment it works fine. If I just open word (not
through outlook) I have the same problems and if I open word with winword.exe
/a it works fine. What do you all think the problem could be? The A/V (live
one care) has word and outlook allowed.

Have you tried Office Diagnostics?

Ran it previously and also repaired word and outlook. I fixed the problem
just now by renaming the
\\hkey_current_user\software\microsoft\office\12.0\word\data folder to
dataold and let the data folder rebuild. It seems to be working better now.
Not sure why diagnostics doesn't pick this corrupted file up and repair it or
why the repair function from the disk didn't work but maybe MS can look into
that.

If your .pst file was broken,You can try a popular Outlook recovery
tool called Advanced Outlook Repair to repair your PST file. It is a
powerful tool to recover messages, folders and other objects from
corrupt or damaged Microsoft Outlook PST files.

Detailed information about Advanced Outlook Repair can be found at
http://www.datanumen.com/aor/

And you can also download a free demo version at http://www.datanumen.com/aor/aor.exe
Good luck!
