Need Outlook to open .doc in Word 2003, not 2007

I have both Word 2003 and Word 2007 on my computer, we need to use word 2003
because of macros in there and uninstalling Office 2007 caused major issues,
so we have Office 2007 (whcih has Word 2007) and Word 2003 separately. I
need to tell the computer to open email attachments in Word 2003 as default,
but what it does when I double clikc on word attachments is to configure
Microsoft Office professional Plus 2007 and after a delay of 1-2 mins it
opens in Word 2007. If I already have Word 2003 open then it uses that whcih
is great but I keep shutting Word 2003 and then being back where I started,
the document does a long install and then opens in 2007. Any idea where I
tell it that 2003 is the one to use ! Thank you so much

I seem to recall reading in another group that there are differences between
2003 and 2007 that require Windows to reconfigure if you switch from one to
the other. It just something that you have to live with. You can also
uninstall Word 2007 and just run 2003. MS does have a converter available
which will allow Word 2003 to open a 2007 file since the file formats are
different.

As to getting the .doc to always open with 2003, check to see which
application is assocated with the extension. I'm willing to bet that Outlook
opens based on that association which is a Windows thing. In other words, if
you save the .doc to your desktop and then open it I'm willing to bet that
it open with Word 2007. Given that there's XP, Vista, and Win7, you'll need
to google around to see how to change the file association.
