Problem with Word 2000

Unable to open a Document in Word 2000
A box comes up with THE SYSTEME IS DANGEROUSLY LOW IN
RESOURCES or sometimes WINDWORD caused an INVALID PAGE
FAULT in MODULE GDI EXE AT 0001:000083 1

Is this one particular document? Or with all documents?

In that case, you need to check your system for orphaned
*.tmp files and delete them. Also clean out your user
profile's TEMP folder, for starters.

You can also try renaming your Normal.dot template to
NormalOLD.dot, if things don't settle down, and see if that
helps at all.
