Problem with USB/ PLug N PLay

Is there a collection of components responsible for recognizing a USB
device? I have a fully functional build but the usb ports do not bring up
any "plug and play" dialog when I plug a usb device into the port. I know
the ports are working because the device that is plugged in shows power. But
the device does not get recognized - not even as an unknown device.

Any ideas?

Also, try this SP2 fix that Andy[MS] has posted here a few times:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\UsbFlags]
"IgnoreHWSerNum04710302" = REG_BINARY 1 1
"GlobalDisableSerNumGen" = REG_BINARY 1 1
"GenericUSBDeviceString = REG_SZ "USB Device"
"GenericCompositeUSBDeviceString"= REG_SZ "Composite USB Device"

That worked - Bio's settings in combination w/reg entry. Thanks for the
reply!
