Problem with updates

Hello!
I have MS Antispyware for about 2 months, everything worked
just fine. The version expires on 31 December.
I had updates 5757 but today I clicked on
File-Check for updates and the program detected new
updates 5761.So it started downloading and applying the
updates. Then the updates were downloaded and installed
successfully.Seemed normal.
Then I closed MS AS and opened it again.Since then
everytime when I decide to Check for updates MS
Antispyware reports New Updates Available and again
downloads the updates 5761.
I would like to know why ,what's wrong and why I cannot
get the new updates successfylly.
Many thanks!

Dear Engel,
the problem just disappeared . :)
Yes,I deleted all the Internet Explorer's Temp cache but I do it everytime I
turn off my PC.Just a habit !
You know, the program is Beta,it doesn't know what exactly is doing *sometimes*

However, when it gets out of Beta, there won't be better Antispyware. :)
Many thanks!

Hi

Like a "parrot". ;)

Remove all your temporarily junk with CCleaner.
www.ccleaner.com

If you view your TIF folders you can find
MSAS def files and beacuse of this newer
upgrades get stucked within this mess with junkfiles.

I was on the updated version and the only way I solved the
problem was to uninstall and download the latest version
from Microsoft and reinstall it. All is now fine. Version
details are now
Microsoft AntiSpyware Version: 1.0.615
This version expires on: 31/12/2005
Spyware Definition Version: 5763 (01/10/2005 10:38:15)

This MANUAL UPDATE fix also works... maybe easier than an un-install &
re-install and at least you don't loose your scan history and settings:

From Mikolaj Kaminski
Please clean the temporary folders (usually)

C:\Documents and Settings\username\local settings\temp
and
C:\Documents and Settings\username\local settings\Temporary Internet
Files\Content.IE5

and delete all the files in those directories and subdirectories).

Then try to perform the update again.

If it does not help, there is a MANUAL UPDATE procedure. Follow these steps:

Right click on MSAS icon within systray and choose shutdown.

Right click and "Save target as..."

http://download.spynet.com/ASDefinitions/gcDeterminationData.gcd

http://download.spynet.com/ASDefinitions/gcThreatAuditScanData.gcd

http://download.spynet.com/ASDefinitions/gcThreatAuditThreatData.gcd

If the http:// does not work, try https:// instead..

Save these files to Program files/Microsoft Antispyware
(Replace when asked to overwrite existing files)

Restart MSAS and "check for updates"

At this point, I suspect server end issues--this kind of issue has come up
periodically throughout the beta. I don't believe 615 has any specific
issue with updates, so I am not sure of all the possible causes--local
caches, TIF, servers not all synched to the new def levels--time will cure
it, generally.
