in all office programs the toolbars don't have that 3d
look as it shoud have.
i'm using windows xp and i had that problem with both
office xp and now that i have installed office 2003.

the toolbars have a thin line around then that doesnt
show up on other computers, just mine.
normaly the toolbars have a slightly different background
color that the menus, but my toolbars are the same color
as the menus above.
And in outlook 2003 the "Mail", "Calendar", "Contacts"
buttons in the lower left corner doesn't have that blue
gradient as they shoud have.

i have completly removed office and installed it again, i
have tried with a clean user profile (loged on as a
different user and then deleted the user profile) but i
still have the same problem.

the only solution i can think of is to reinstall windows
from scratch, but that takes a lot of time and i realy
want to avoid that.

does anyone have any sugestions?

This isn't an Office thing as you probably have unchecked all the effects
for Windows XP. To enable the effects;
rightclick My Computer-> Properties-> tab Advanced-> section Performance
button Settings-> tab Visual Effects.

i have all of those checkboxes checked, thats the strange
part.

i am using visual styles but outlook 2003(and other
office programs) don't have that blue look, its just
plain light brownish (don't know exactly how to describe
the color)

i have the new xp look turned on in windows (the default
blue one)

i just tried to disable the second monitor, and now
outlook is displayed as it shoud (blue gradients and
stuff)

this is a bit odd, since it works on another computer
with 2 monitors (a laptop).
the only difference is that i have screen 2 to the left.

i tried to switch so screen 1 is left and 2 is right
(display settings in controll panel) but no blue colors.
so i can only get outlook to look good as long as i only
use one monitor

This could indeed be a limitation of your videocard and if you're lucky just
the driver. Make sure you are running the latest drivers. You could also
contact you videocard manufacturer to verify this behaviour or even get a
solution.

Good Luck!

i have tried to switch grafic card from my nvidia quadro4
to a matrox g450 (also dual head)
but i have the exact same problem on both.

so i'm not sure it's a driver problem.
