Maybe you have seen these problem before, but I just can't find information
about it.
I've tried to upgrade to the rc1 from my current xp installation, but I just
can't. Everything went right, the expanding files process it's just starting,
it comes to 21% my pc restart, and when my pc it's up again and the
installation it's about to continue a message appear:
"windows could not prepare the computer to boot into the next phase of
installation. to install windows, restart installation." of course, it
restart, and then xp comes and shows a message that the installation didn't
succed and that everything will go back to normal (that's not the message but
i don't remember it right now).

Can you help me????, by the way my pc:

xp 2600+
512 ram
x1600 pro 256 agp
80 gb ide

I'm trying to install it in a 34gb partition, and i have 5 more partition in
the same hdd (I believe that's the right numer of partitions, i'm at work
right now, and i can't remember te exact numer). I've found a possible answer
to this question, so when i get home i will try again and let you now how it
went

So, i came home and probe the answer, first i checked that the partition was
an active partition, then i retried, but same error, so i use the second and
final option to solve this problem, i format and make it the active partition
with the diskpart.exe utility that came with the installation dvd, and now
i'm posting this answer from my new installation of rc1, and it runs great.

Thank you Alejo for the preocupation
