problem with the search feature

Every time I enter any sort of file name to be searched
on any drive, i get a blank error message box. after
this, i can't do anything, although the bar on the left
still shows the search as being underway.

The microsoft help and support site said that this only
happens with disconnected network drives, but i'm facing
this problem even with my local hard disk, which isn't
shared.

Search used to work just fine, but it started doing this
weird stuff a week or so ago.

and i have Windows XP Home edition.

Click Start | Run | type "regsvr32 /i shell32"
This should also fix the "yellow exclamation" error while searching.
