Problem with System Cloning

Hi All,

This is further to the posting by Steve_Cho on 12/05/2003. I have updated
the latest QFE 810144 in my database. I have just one user account
(Administrator). In my builderkit I have set the reseal phase to 0 in order
to stop FBRESEAL from running during the FBA process. After the FBA has
finished its work, I log in as a Administrator, create a new Account. Make
the require changes for that user and then I run the FBRESEAL to clone the
system. The cloning generated a new SID and a new computer name. Now when I
try to log in as the user that I created just before the RESEAL Phase, I am
unable to do so, instead I a new user profile (Eg: user.<SID>) gets created.
Now I restart the machine to check whether it stays with the same user name
but unfortunately one more user profile with a different name in the same
format as above is created and when I check the computer name that too has
changed. Looks like the FBRESEAL is taking place every time I restart and
log in as the user.

Does anybody have a solution at all? I need it at the earliest.

There are some settings at the system cloning tool where you can define
which changes should be made.
like computername, networkstettings, user....

Do you have the same behavior if you add a "User Account "component in
Target Designer, and then tweak its settings before reseal?

I recently performed what Lynda suggested, and the Accounts were not changed
by FBreseal.

Hi Praveen,

What settings are you changing for the user account you
are creating before you reseal the drive? I wanted a
backup admin account for my image so I added the user
account component and changed the group in the advanced
settings to 1 for administrators. Is this what you are
trying to do, or are there other settings that you want
the 2nd account to have. If you are just trying to put
the account into the image with a particular group setting
you can do it through the advanced settings of the User
Account component. Let me know if there is anything I can
do to help you out.

Hi,

FYI, this problem seems intermittent and the same cannot be attributed to
only certain settings. This observation was made since I have got one more
build with the same procedure that I did to follow my earlier build and it
works fine when I create a user after the build has been made and then run
the FBRESEAL.

Regarding the addition of User Account component in the builder kit itself
and then later on tweak the same, I shall do it and update to you
accordingly.
