Here is an interesting problem that I haven't been able to pin point the
solution. When the users on the clients click on start-run, and type the
computer name, or IP address preceeded with the double slash, they get the
error:
"The Network Name cannot be found"
This also happens when they try to access any share located on the Windows
2000 server, the same happens when they try to map, or create a new network
place.
If the user already has an existing mapping to the share then it works fine.

I can ping both the name, and IP address.

Any ideas on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.
thanks,
Enrique

Are the problem machines making a router hop to the destination? If,
so look at your router filters and/or IP helpers.

No routers between the clients and the server. As far as I can see there
seems to be no relavance or pattern.
