I'm having problems accessing a particular shared folder on a Windows 2000
server from a Windows XP Pro laptop. The laptop and server are in differnet
domains and different subnets.
I can setup a share on the server and access it from the laptop without a
problem. I have to login using the credentials from the server domain to do
so. At some point (I'm not sure what causes this yet), I loose the
connection to the shared folder. When this happens and I try to access the
folder I get a Windows Explorer window with 0 files even though there are
file in the folder.
I've used etherreal to view the network traffic to this server from my
laptop. When I make the request to the problem shared folder I noticed that
it is trying to use my laptop login credentials and not the login in the
domain for the server. I'm never prompted to enter a correct username and
password.
Any idea as to why this is happening? Is there any way to get the system to
prompt me for a login to the share so I can specify the correct domain and
login info?
Thanks in advance.
