I'm attempting to password protect some shared folders in XP Pro and I am
running into a problem. THis is using a Workgroup (no Domain).
I have disabled "simple sharing," and removed all but my own Username on my
shared folder on the NTFS security tab. The Sharing tab has "Everyone" listed
in its permissions. I also created a limited account on my machine that other
machines would use when accessing this shared folder.
When I go on the other machine and attempt to open the shared folder, it
simply says "\\sharedcomputer\sharedfolder is not accessible. You might not
have permission to use this network resource... Access denied." No login
screen is ever shown.
How do I get a login screen in order to login in to get to the shared
computer's files?
