Problem with screen resolution after reboot

After reboot and logging in, Windows XP keeps changing my screen
resolution from 1024x764 to 640x480. As a result all my desktop icons
are moved and huddled. How to force XP to start in higher screen
resolution or at least to prevent it from moving desktop icons?
 
Check the BOOT>INI /BASE VIDEO box
Start > Run, type msconfig and press enter.
Click on the BOOT.INI tab and make sure that the /BASE VIDEO box does not
have a check mark in it, uncheck it if it has then click OK
