problem with renaming & naming folders

I can no longer name or rename folders in Windows Explorer.

When I right click inside a directory to make a new folder, or when using
the "move to folder" new folder action, I get the normal box to fill text
into but it will either not accept text (it shifts focus elsewhere), or
accepts only a couple of letters before shifting focus on its own. I end up
with the label "new folder" or one with only a few letters that I cannot
rename because renaming performs pretty much the same problems.

There are certain rare time when this does not occur and everything seems to
functions normally.

Is something in Windows corrupted, or could some other type of app interfere
with this function? Please help. Thanks

To start with, connect a known good working keyboard to either verify or
negate the one you're using as the cause.

Hello,

Try a different mouse as well.. If you don't have spare mice, try changing
the batteries if you are using a wireless device.

If it is a USB mouse, you can unplug the mouse and see if the problem
persists. Press F2 on your keyboard to quickly rename a file or folder.

thanks. The keyboard works OK with every text application except the ones
requiring new folder names or renames. This afternoon I worked with several
new folders that named fine, which makes me believe there is an app I use or
runs in the background that causes it, interferes with it. I noticed it in
the Google toolbar box as well, can't type in a full search item.

Be leery of advice from a SPAMMER. They have a different agenda than
their pretense of giving help. This one does know how to put his spam
in a signature (after a sigdash line) as evidenced by his first posts
but refuses to do so now because he is scared of newsreaders that strip
off signatures. He wants to ensure to shove his spam in your face.
