Problem with Outlook 2003

For some reason I cannot access my Inbox folder any more. A message appears
' <Path of pst file> Unable to access .pst, Invalid Handle'. and when I try
to copy the pst file somewhere else I get a 'cyclic redundancy check' error.

Even if I try to delete a few files I get the same message, can anyone help
me out, its urgent.

Thanks

Your PST is probably corrupt. Check out the "Inbox Repair Tool",
"Scan Inbox", or SCANPST tool, depending on your version of Outlook.
You may or may not lose some data, but under most circumstances the
tool can put you back in service. The MS Office website has some
instructions and help for the utilities.

Thanks .... I've managed to fix it. The utility did not work, but I managed
to find a work around.

Simply change the name of the PST file to something else.

Then create a new PST

and lastly import from the old PST to the NEW PST. This gets everything back
apart from the rules.

Thanks any ways

Well, not everything, but if you're happy with the results, that's what
counts.

Where would we be without work-arounds? ;-)

I'm somewhat surprised that the util didn't help, though. The process
you describe is basically what the util does automatically - maybe
someone with a better understanding can explain why that worked when
the MS util did not? Any ideas, group?

At any rate, it's good that you're back in business...
