Problem with opening "My Computer" window

E

Erik RAftsjo

The problem is that there is a long delay before the drive icons are visible
in "My Computer"
From anywhere else the drives and files can be accessed without delay.

1 When opening "My Computer" window, there is a 30 second delay before
the drive icons are visible.

2 In the Event viewer the following information is available:

2.1 INFORMATION: 7:01:57 "The windows image acquisition (WIA)
service was successfully sent a start control"

2.2 ERROR: 7:02:12 " The windows image
acquisition (WIA) service terminated unexpectedly"

2.3 ERROR: 7:02:27 " The server {.......} did
not register with DCOM within the required timeout"
( this is related to
svchost.exe, version 5.1.2600.2180, generic host process for win32 services
by Microsoft)

3 This information comes up in the Event viewer every time I click on the
"My Computer" icon.

4 I am using Windows XP pro SP2 and the computer hardware is new. I have
no idea where this problem is coming from.

If anybody can give me a hint on how to solve this problem, I would be most
grateful.

Best regards

Thank you very much.

I found the problem, after this advice.
HP printer software for 2500 series together with Musicmatch 10.0 is causing
this problem on my machine.
Furthermore, when uninstalling the HP programs, it's damaging the Musicmatch
installation.

Thanks again
