Problem with network printer

R

Ramscape

I have XP on my desktop and laptop. Desktop has Epson 6600 printer
attached. I have broadband cable internet with a wireless connection
for the laptop, but wired to the desktop from the router.

I set up a network using the wizard. That worked fine. Then I added
the network printer (the Epson) on the laptop. When I send a print job
to the printer, it never prints. However, the exact same laptop print
job appears in the printer's status box on BOTH the laptop and the
desktop printer property box.

In order for me to print anything after that from the desktop, I must
delete the laptop job, as it acts as a block.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Open the printer properties on the laptop and select the Ports tab.
What port is the printer using? It should point to
//computername/printer. You might try using the advice on this site for
printing to a TCP/IP port.

Also, check that the spooler service is running on the laptop.
