Hi. I was wondering if anyone out there could help me.
My problem is that every time I log onto my computer
(Acer, Aspire 1200, Windows XL) that after a few minutes
(sometimes immediately, sometimes after five minutes)
working on it, be it online on Internet Explorer or just
on Word or whatever, *this alert sign pops up with a red
X.* It gives me one minute to save my work and then
reboots my computer automatically. It's really annoying.
I can't get anything done and I don't know how to stop
this sign from popping up. It says (in French) that
because of authority NT/SYSTEM and because of unexpected
problem with RPC that Microsoft must shut down and reboot
my computer.

I bought my computer in France and used it there with no
problem at all. Now I've relocated to USA and I have this
problem now.

If anyone knows what I can do, I'd really appreciate your
help!
Thanks.
Elizabeth

Possibly your system has been hijacked by spyware. Install Ad-Aware and/or
Spybot, both of which can be downloaded for free.

Hi Elizabeth,

You have the MSBlaster worm. Follow these instructions taken from another
post.

What You Should Know About the Blaster Worm
http://www.microsoft.com/security/incident/blast.asp

Remove W32.MSBlast.Worm
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_qr.htm#rpc

Blaster Worm: Critical Security Patch for Windows XP (32-bit version)

If your computer is constantly attempting to shutdown
or reboot, quickly go to:

Start > Run and type: CMD , and hit enter.
This opens the Command Prompt window.

Then type: shutdown -a , and hit enter.

This should halt the rebooting problem.

Then immediately turn-on Windows XP's built-in Firewall:

Have you checked for any viruses? This sounds very
similar to the blaster worm.

Damn those evil French, they must have put a virus in your computer at
customs.

Seriously, this has been addressed here a zillion times. Do a google
search on "ms blaster".
