I have Windows XP and ever since a few weeks ago, my web
sites keep shutting off, sometimes it says Windows
Explorer has encountered a problem and other times it
just shuts off without warning. I go to download a
critical update from Winsows XP but during that download
an error occurs or it just turns off, I cant seem to
download that critical update (and I dont even know if
that will help but im trying)

Is this happening to anyone else where there internet
explorer is running slow and always shutting off and if
so, how did you fix this problem?

Any help would be appreciated

Also all these popups are occuring to my computer, the
topic is like 3rd party advertisments or something, its
so annoying? Any help would be great, thanks!

I can download the critical updates but they do not
install. They just go away, disappear. I cannot look at
the registry because it closes after about 15 seconds as
do other programs when installing them. I had the sasser
worm, and I don't know if this is a result of it. I don't
have a problem with explorer though.

I am betcom1. Had sasser, I used the removal tool from
microsoft. From a downloaded version to cd. However I
thought that I did the upgrade 8357... first. I thought I
had followed all the instructions. In any case it says it
removed it and I don't have it anymore. I cannot however
install Norton antivirus it starts then dissapears as do
the critical upgrades from microsoft and the register
when trying to view it. Files start to install then just
vanish. No error messages...nothing....everything just
leaves, quits, goes on vacation. I no longer have the
shutdown problem. I haven't tried any free online
antivirus scan tools. Didn't know there was anything
FREE. Thanks for the help.

Okay so I went to symantec and ran the virus detection
and it told me I had 2 infected files.
W32.HLLW.Gaobot.gen was the culprit. Followed the
directions of removal tool. Several times actually, it
says to do it twice. It says everytime that it fixed 1 or
2 files and 2 lines in the registry. How many times is it
supposed to take? Any way after that I tried the updates
from microsoft, it acted like they actually installed. Is
there a way to check? However register still dissappears.
BLAH. thanks for the help.

You say " you had the Sasser Worm", Did you get rid of it?? And if so, how
did you "get rid of it"?
What error messages if any are you getting?
Do you have "UPDATED" Anti-Virus installed, and have
you
used it?
What does a virsus scan tell you?
Have you tried any of the many free "online" virsus
scan
tools? Have you
