Problem with MSCONFIG

When I uncheck a program box in the startup section of MSCONFIG and then
reboot, yes I hit apply, the box is still checked when I go back to it. Im
not sure when this started, but perhaps after I upgraded to SP2?

Anyone have any ideas what to do?
Thanks. Please respond to (e-mail address removed)

This has happened to me too - but only with freeware and shareware I
downloaded from the internet. I got around this phenomena by deleting the
offending program.

Seems that it has the control to startup when Windows does, no matter. You
may want to make the startup changes from within said program.

If you want replies, read them here, no one will reply to your email
address, as this is a help medium where all may benefit from answers to
queries. Also, posting your (apparently real) email address here is a good
way to get SPAM, as emails address miner bots scan these mediums for them;
it is best to munge your address by adding extra characters to it.

Got it on the email. Ill be more careful.

As to using the programs as the control point thats not optimal since I dont
know where some of them are and not all have an option that is easy to find.
Besides, it bugs me that something that should work, doesnt.
