Problem with moving to PowerPoint 2007

Adrian

Hi,

I had a customer send me a PPT 2003 file. when I open it in PPT 2003 it all
looks fine, even though the file apppears to use a font that is specific to
the customer.

When I open the same file in PPT 2007, most of the text is not visible as
all.

Why is this and how do I solve the problem ?

Even changing the font in the Master Slide doesn't resolve the problem for
the whole deck.

This is incredibly frustrating. I would like PPT 2007 to behave in the same
way as PPT 2003.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Regards

Adrian

I'm experiencing the same )*&^%*&$ problems. Heaps of powerpoints prepped in
2003 or 1997 format, with the font cut off and text boxes displaced
vertically when opened in 2007. I have several printer drivers installed, and
don't like the instruction to make any particular colour printer driver the
default one when the office (networked) machine is in fact the default
printer.
What's the deal - is MS planning at any time in the distant future to
provide some kind of a patch that will ALLOW USERS OF PPT07 TO OPEN FILES
PREPPED WITH PPT03 OR 97 'TRANSPARENTLY' WITHOUT HAVING TO WORK AROUND BY
PLAYING WITH PRINTER DRIVERS. (which, by the way, hasn't worked with me...)
Is there a way to actually contact a software "engineer" at MS and ask for
this to be fixed?
Grr.

First thing to do is make sure you have a printer (or a printer driver)
installed and set as the default printer.

Well, is the driver for that office networked machine local or on the
network? Try making it local. That might work.

I'm sorry you don't like the instruction, but it is what it is.

No clue. But if it hasn't worked for you, then it doesn't matter, does it?

Call Microsoft Product Support.

We all need a good rant from time to time. Gotta let off the pressure before our
heads explode.

Since we're all just users here and not MS representatives, nobody can really
speak to what MS may or may not do about this, though we'd sure like to see a
fix.

What I'd do is continue using your network printer but make sure that the driver
is locally installed. You may be attached to a driver that lives on the server
that controls the printer. That can be problematic. If you install the driver
locally then redirect to a network printer, that whole class of problems goes
away.
