Problem with MIDI

Hi everyone,

I've installed a new 4 channel Intex PCI sound card which is recognised
by the windows as "Yamaha DS-XG Audio(WDM)". The problem I am facing is
that, I am unable to play the midi files anymore. I dont get any sound
when I play the midi files on Windows Media Player. In the Sound and
Audio device properties, I am unable to select any default device for
MIDI music playback. There are currently 3 options available in the
drop-down box. Those are:

1.Yamaha XG Soft synthesizer
2.Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth
3.Yamaha DS-XG Soft synthesizer (WDM)

Whenever I try to select one of these options and click apply, the
options disappears and the default device shows up as blank. I tried
all the possible options but nothing seems to work. I was wondering
hoping to find help here. Thanks in advance.

It is just about impossible to find out any useful information on Intex
sound cards. I suspect that Windows installed the wrong driver but Intex
does not post drivers for their sound cards.

Use the info here to request the correct driver or at least get support.

The problem is more with the inability to select any midi device as a
default device in the Sound and audio device properties of the control
panel. I hope I am being clear. Actually, I installed the drivers from
the cd that came with the sound card. So I guess it is not the issue of
the drivers.

Also I forgot to mention that I had an aureal vortex sound card earlier
and I had not taken the trouble to uninstall those drivers before I
installed this sound card. Could that be an issue?

Yes indeed!
