Problem with forwarding messages - Outlook 2003

Hello,

I've Outlook 2003 (under XPP SP-2) installed and generally speaking, it
works well. However, when I receive a message and want to forward this
message, together with my comments, or whatever, I click send. The message
ends up in the outbox and is marked in italics, which is ok. When I then
send/receive messages, all my outgoing messages are transmitted apart from
the forwarded message, that's left behind. I've even tried to drag it over
to the Drafts folder, opened the message and clicked Send again, upon which
the message again is moved to the outbox folder (marked in italics), but it
will not transmit, either separatly, or together with other messages.

If I copy the complete content from the offending message into a new message
(possible with attachments) it will transmit without any problems.

Does anyone have any idea what might be wrong, or how I can overcome this
problem?

A side question: Is there any mechanism for turning a received mail message
into an attachment, i.e. to save a message as a message that can be attached
to future mail messages?

What sort of mail account(s) do you have? If you have a POP3 account,
could you turn on diagnostic logging (see
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q300479) and post
the OPMLog.log file (preferably as an attachment) after you've tried
forwarding a message?

To send an email message as an attachment, go to Insert -> Item... on the
message you're creating. You can then pick a message to attach.

Jeff,

Many thanks for your suggestion, and yes, I failed to mention that I use
POP3.

Even though I've worked with Office for many years (actually since inception
of Word and Excel) I have miserably failed to look into every nook and
cranny of the program, and all its options. Your logging suggestion was, in
a way, spot on.

I created two messages, one forwarded and one new e-mail. After clicking
Send, both showed up in the outbox, italicized and bold, just as it should
be. On transmission, only the newly created message was sent, the forwarded
message was left behind. I checked the log and found that it only showed
that ONE message was in the box for transmission. Strange! I then created
one brand new e-mail profile, with a brand new e-mail account on the
mailserver, and did the same test, one forwarded and one new message in the
outbox, and then clicked Send. Both messages transmitted fine, no problem.

Now, apparently there must be something wrong with my mail profiles, but
what? Should I re-create all of my profiles to see if it works, or is there
some way of repairing what might be the problem? Do you know anything about
this?

Once again, many thanks for your assistance, it's much appreciated.

Best regards,

I know of no way to repair profiles (which isn't to say that there isn't
one). You're probably better off just recreating them.
