Outlook 2003 - Messages won't leave the Outbox

Hello,
I know there have been many questions regarding this problem...surely there
IS a fix and not a work-around that one has to do each time e-mail is to be
sent.

Brand new machine...installed Office 2003 Pro...imported .pst from Outlook
XP Pro. Totally clean and only one e-mail profile created upon install. No
old outbox messages were present upon .pst import. E-mail settings were
tested and confirmation of settings was sent and received.

Messages remain in the outbox and will not send from 2003. I've dragged
them into Drafts and tried "re-sending" one at a time to no avail. If I open
the outbox nothing is in italics and there is no date in the Sent column.
I've even had the outbox open while re-sending a message and watched it (in a
split second) go to italics with a date then immediately loose italics and
the date.

Can someone please help with a good, final solution to this problem ? In
advance, I appreciate your assistance.

Importing a pst file can corrupt the profile. You should set up your new
personal file with the correct server settings, as you have done, then use
File, Open OL Data File to open the old file & move Contacts, email, whatever
to the new pst file. You copy old the pst file to the new hard drive and
remove the read only properties before you open it. Better instructions here:
