Everytime I start my computer and log on my account I am faced with
black screen except for the white mouse pointer in the screen. I ca
load explorer.exe back using task manager however its quit
inconvenient. For any fix on this please let me know. I looked at m
registry and explorer.exe is in the shell.

Another problem I have is that any video on any video player will no
work. I can hear the sound perfectly but no video. Examples of th
players I used is DivX, Windows Media Player, Quicktime, and VLC. I'
trying to play a .AVI file but as previously stated I cannot see th
video. If anyone has a solution to this please let me know

The best solution is replace Media Player with one that actually works
and isn't so finicky about codecs which is the main reason Media
Player constantly chokes.

VLC should play most AVI's. If not try:

GOM Player or XnView

You may also want to check if this file is a "real" AVI since these
days that means nothing and it might be just a wrapper with a
different file extension inside. Check with Gspot that will tell you
and also say which if any codec on your system should play it.

Also a common reason for some AVI's not playing is a missing or
damaged index. Common if you download off the web or from some
newsgroup. Try opening in Virtual Dub (also free) and it will
automatically rebuild/repair the index.
