Hi...
Wondering if anyone can help me with this issue.
In a PowerPoint presentation, there is an embedded MS Org Chart object.
When double-clicking it to edit it, I get error "Microsoft PowerPoint can't
start the application required to open this object. An error occurred and
this feature is no longer functioning properly. Would you like to repair
this feature now?" (the repair doesn't help) and then "The server
application, source file, or item can't be found or, returned an unknown
error. You may need to reinstall the server application."
I have looked at the KB article:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=238307 and the steps there
didn't help. The are only the standard 70 or so Windows fonts, and deleting
the preference files as described didn't fix it.
It is only a couple of documents that have this problem-- other ppt
documents with embedded org charts seem to work fine.
Problem persists on that machine, under any user profile. However, some
other machines seem to have no trouble. Windows has been completely
reinstalled (to fix another unrelated problem.) I have tried reinstalling
MS Office several times and even re-registering the MS Org Chart control
(using "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Org
Chart\Orgchart.exe" /regserver ... I found those instructions on the web
but it didn't seem to do anything. It is the correct path to orgchart.exe
though.
Any ideas?
