Problem with DVD/ Cd-RW Drice

I'm having problems opening or using any disks I put into the cdrom drive. It is recognized by windows and appears in My Computer, but as far as running a disk - it gives me the error: Disk is not formatted. (Which the CD is, because I used an AOL installation disk) Or I can get the error with a DVD disk: F:\ is not accessible. The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.

What can I do, or is it time to buy a new cdrom drive?
