Problem with "Display the scan results window after a spyware scan

Guest

Hi,

I'm trying to set the "Display the scan results window after a spyware
scan." checkbox on the Options / Settings / Spyware Scan page.

As soon as I click the Save button the checkbox un-checks itself.

Thanks in advance

Hi Charlie;
Don't take this personally... but try
Options > Settings > General > User Modes > radio button Novice User

then check your Spyware Scan > Scan Settings
;)

Dave,

What menus change when we select "Novice user"? Or, what settings or
features do we lose access to? I cannot see any difference between the two
settings?

Thanks,
Gene

Hi Gene;

Here's what the MSAS help files have to say about it. The basic difference is
in the level of decision you are eligible to make in regard to allowing or
disallowing actions and permissions:

Knowledgeable User. A knowledgeable user is familiar with many of the
functionalities of a computer. This can range form a very technical user to a
skilled power user. If you select the Knowledgeable User Mode, you will have
complete control of blocking, deactivating, and removing installed applications.
Selecting this mode will allow you to take any action on various alerts
regardless if the action selected is the recommend action for the software. It
is extremely important that when using this mode and presented with actions such
as blocking a program’s full installation or parts of the installation you
completely understand what you are doing.

Novice User. A novice user will be restricted on some of the actions that they
can perform when presented with various alerts. These restrictions will
generally be based on Microsoft AntiSpyware’s recommended action under the
circumstances.

Hi Dave,

Thank you for the education. And thanks for being gracious enough not to
say, "Read the manual!" I apologize for not looking in the help file before
posting my question. I fiddled with menus and saw nothing, but I should have
expected the answer to be in the help file.

Kind regards,
Gene
