problem with Cd Rom drive reading disks

I am having trouble witht e cd rom drive I believe. I
have the game loaded and the all patches installed but,
when I gotth e main screen to play the game I get a
window that asks me to put the game disk in. I put it in
and click the button but it never goes away? I tried
another game, Age of Empires and the disk is not found ??
The cdrom drawyer works, light flashes and is recognized
in the system. I tried re-installing the cdrom through
windows and problem still exists ... It seems like
everything is fine but windows will not read information
from the disk ... Please let me know if this is a known
bug or something "special" with my Pc.

Can we assume that this is a built-in CD-ROM drive?
When your machine is trying to read the disk, can you go into Windows
Explorer and read what the files are? Or not?
