There are several different methods used to enter the BIOS, depending on
your version of BIOS. When you turn on the computer the first thing on the
screen is usually info about your video card, then a BIOS screen where it
lists yore processor, drives, etc. Usually at the bottom of this screen
there will be a message such as "Press delete to enter BIOS", or something
similar. Look for this on your computer. This screen will go by quickly, (it
is just before the Windows opening screen) so you need to look quickly, and
do what the message says. If you have the manual on your computer or
motherboard, read it, it will give you instructions. Once you get into the
BIOS use the instructions there to move around in BIOS and find where you
can change the boot order. It may be set to floppy drive first, hard drive
second, and CD third now. Change it, usually by using the Page Up/Page Down
keys, to have the CD be the first. You can then insert the XP CD, exit the
BIOS, and it will boot from the CD.
Going into the BIOS can cause a lot of problems if you don't know what you
are doing. If you are not comfortable doing this I suggest you have someone
who is familiar with setting the BIOS to help you.
After you have done these changes and done the repair install, you need to
go back into BIOS and set the boot order back to where it was.
