problem with bits 2.0 and winhttp 5.1-windows update-access denied

A friend of mine at work has a Toshiba laptop and I want to run Windows
update.

When I do it tells me I have to install the above (KB842773) and when I do,
it fails to install...tells me access denied and KB842773 setup error.

How do I fix this so I can install this and run Windows update???
